Description of bug: CFPARAM is overwriting an explicitly defined variable. If the CFPARAM tag has a space after the variable name, before the quote symbol, the CFPARAM tag will overwrite an already explicitly defined variable by that name without the space. Steps to reproduce bug: 1. <cfparam name="form.TimeZoneDiff " default=""> 2. Form post passes in "form.TimeZoneDiff" that is equal to 1 3. Before the param tag, form.TimeZoneDiff equals 1, but after the param tag, form.TimeZoneDiff equals "" If you remove the space from the CFPARAM name, the already defined variable does not get over-written with the "" value, but stays with a value of 1. Comments: It appears that CF checks for the existence of a variable that is explicitly the same as the NAME attribute, but then when setting that variable, it TRIMS the name when setting. It appears to do something like this: <cfif NOT isDefined("param.Name")> <cfset Trim(param.Name) = param.Default> </cfif> or <cfif NOT isDefined("form.TimeZoneDiff ")> <cfset Trim("form.TimeZoneDiff ") = param.Default> </cfif>
